PRESS RELEASE

BMC Control-D Migration

BMC Control-D to OpenText VistaPlus

September 03, 2009

Data Strategies Interchange today reported on the successful completion of BMC Control-D Migration to OpenText VistaPlus.

The project was performed in support of OpenText professional services and with the cooperation of the customer’s technical staff. The customer, a large supplier of wholesale groceries and services to grocery stores, convenience stores, and schools, had been using Control-D for Windows for its document management needs and wanted to move to the Open Text Report & Output Management Suite (formerly Vista Plus).

Data Strategies worked closely with OpenText and the customer to design the target archive and define the mapping of the structure of the legacy archive into the structure of the new one. This was a pre-requisite for the full automation of the migration process.

The BMC Control-D migration was performed using Data Strategies’ proven off-line document migration process and platform. Offline migration is a process where DSI performs the migration optimized for best performance independent of end client’s hardware and without hindrance to their daily activities.

The project involved the extraction of over 5 million documents (Line-data/Text, Excel, TIFF, PDF, MS Word/Excel, PowerPoint, and DJDE Metacode files) and their conversion to the format specified for the ingestion into the target archive. Over 450 GBytes of compressed data were converted.
