Data Strategies Interchange is pleased to announce the successful completion of Dell EMC’s NetWorker Migration for gaming development company.

The client had a large backup of sensitive data stored on more than a thousand LTO/AIT backup tapes (mix of LTO-4, LTO5, AIT-3 and AIT-5). 1 petabyte of data was migrated to 95 LTO-8 Tapes to later be transferred to cloud storage.

The backup data in question consisted of Unix file systems, application backups and majority of the tapes/data were NDMP archives. 

The customer shipped all tapes to Data Strategies Interchange’s secure facility in Houston Texas. Using our off-line migration hardware platform DSI used a proprietary MediaGenie Proteus software suite for:

• Extracting (with on-the-fly de-multiplexing) NetWorker save sets from LTO/AIT tapes;
• Restore NetWorker save sets to temp storage
• Creating Tar Backup sets on LTO-8 media.

• Petabyte scale migration with unique file formats.
• Generating Target LTO-8 tapes with Tar and encryption
