ASG ViewDirect Migration to Alfresco

Data Strategies Interchange today is pleased to announce the successful completion of ASG ViewDirect Migration to Alfresco.

The customer, a major Life Insurance/Investment Company, had been using ASG-ViewDirect for archiving line data documents.

 The project was to extract text files from ViewDirect for Networks DAF files to be ingested to Alfresco. The client had approximately 600GB of archived report data stored on Network Storage.

 The ASG ViewDirect Migration process was executed through remote access on customer provided Windows servers. Some 450,000 DAF files were extracted and delivered on to the customer’s Network Storage.

 Data Strategies’ proven proprietary off-line document migration platform known as Document Genie was used to extract documents and metadata from ViewDirect.

Key Achievements in the project:

• The ASG ViewDirect database didn’t have accurate information about the report ID and report version. So DSI ran a pre-process to get real report ID and report version from each source DAF File.
• The pre-process also helped to confirm that all the DAF files were line data documents.
• The Following were discovered as a part of DSI’s efficient QC:
  • Duplicate DAFs.
  • DAFs that were given for migration but were not recorded on the source ASG ViewDirect database.
  • DAFs that had ViewDirect database records but were not delivered to us.
