INSCI WinCoins Migration

INSCI WinCoins Migration to ViewDirect

INSCI WinCoins

Data Strategies Interchange today reported the successful completion of the INSCI WinCoins (aka Datawatch BDS) Migration to ASG ViewDirect.

The customer, a major US insurance company, had been using INSCI’s COINS platform for managing their line-data and Xerox Metacode/DJDE reports. The customer’s WinCOINS legacy system utilized 12″ Philips LMS optical technology whereas their newer WebCOINS system used 5.25″ HP optical technology for archival storage. Both INSCI systems employed a proprietary database for storing the document indexes.

For ingestion into the customer’s new ASG/Mobius ViewDirect target archive, all documents were extracted and delivered in their native format together with the associated index information. No format conversion was needed since ViewDirect has native viewing capability for Metacode documents. For the loading of the index information into ViewDirect, banner pages with index values were added to the line-data documents, whereas for Metacode documents index information was supplied in XML files.

The INSCI WinCoins Migration was performed using Data Strategies’ proven off-line document migration process and platform. The project involved the generation of optical platter images at the customer’s location and the subsequent extraction of some 220 million documents at Data Strategies’ secure facility in Houston, TX. All index values were extracted from the proprietary INSCI database files.
