Lotus Notes Mailbox Restore from NetBackup Tapes

Data Strategies Interchange today reported the successful completion of the Lotus Notes Mailbox Restore from the NetBackup project.

The end-user, a major US insurance company, has an ongoing requirement: sets of Lotus Notes mailbox restore from its backup tapes, generated by Veritas Netbackup. Data Strategies was contracted for this service because of its capability to non-natively restore data from NetBackup tapes (either file system backups or agent-based backups).

For every set of selected user mailboxes, e-mail servers and backup dates are identified in cooperation with the customer. Tapes that possibly contain the required data are shipped to Data Strategies’ facility in Houston, TXusing its proven off-line document migration platform. Offline migration is a process where DSI performs the migration optimized for best performance independent of end client’s hardware and without hindrance to their daily activities. Data Strategies’ proprietary MediaGenie Proteus application is then used to catalog the backup tapes and, in a second step, extract the selected mailboxes.
