Data Strategies Interchange today successfully reported on the completion of a major Anacomp DocHarbor migration to IBM Filenet P8.
The customer, a major health insurance provider giant, had been using Anacomp’s docHarbor (aka TASC-COLD) document management system, for archiving a variety of computer-generated customer documents, such as EOBs, billing statements, etc. The legacy system was hosted on an HP-UX server, using SAN storage for document archival. Original document formats were a mix of PDF, line data, and line data with embedded font specifications (3800LINE).
In order to reduce cost, the decision was made to migrate documents to the company’s standard corporate archival system, Filenet P8.
The customer supplied a backup copy of the legacy Oracle database and a copy of the TASC-COLD archive directory on a large, encrypted USB drive. The migration was performed at the Data Strategies’ secure facility in Houston, TX using its proven off-line document migration platform.
Approximately 55 million documents with a total size of 6 TB were extracted and delivered to the customer on encrypted USB hard drives. Document indexes, extracted from the legacy database were delivered in transact.dat files, as required for FileNet High-Performance Image Import.
A particular requirement of this migration was that all line data documents in the legacy system were associated with preprinted forms (PDF format), with precise instructions for margins, paper sizes, default fonts and, for multipage forms, rules for form placement that determine how pages in the form need be applied to pages in the source document. These specifications were incorporated in the conversion process and all documents were delivered in PDF format with superimposed forms.
